251d91699d libpod: switch to golang native error wrapping
We now use the golang error wrapping format specifier `%w` instead of
the deprecated github.com/pkg/errors package.

51fbf3da9e enable gocritic linter
The linter ensures a common code style.
- use switch/case instead of else if
- use if instead of switch/case for single case statement
- add space between comment and text
- detect the use of defer with os.Exit()
- use short form var += "..." instead of var = var + "..."
- detect problems with append()
```
newSlice := append(orgSlice, val)
```
  This could lead to nasty bugs because the orgSlice will be changed in
  place if it has enough capacity too hold the new elements. Thus we
  newSlice might not be a copy.

Of course most of the changes are just cosmetic and do not cause any
logic errors but I think it is a good idea to enforce a common style.
This should help maintainability.

21502987b2 replace hpcloud/tail with nxadm/tail
The hpcloud is not maintained anymore. nxadm is already part of the
dependency chain, so it won't add work for downstream packages.

While testing upcoming changes to the events-file backend, I noticed
that nxadm is shipping required fixes.

21f396de6f logs: adjust handling around partial log messages
In libpod/logs.LogLine.Write(), don't write a newline to stdout/stderr
when the log message is only part of a line.

In libpod.ConmonOCIRuntime.HTTPAttach(), don't send a newline over the
HTTP connection when the log message is only part of a line.

In pkg/api/handlers/compat.LogsFromContainer(), don't send a newline
over the HTTP connection when the log message is only part of a line,
and don't make doing so conditional on whether or not the client used
the docker or podman endpoint.

In pkg/domain/infra/tunnel.ContainerEngine.ContainerLogs(), don't add
our own newline to log messages, since they already come through from
the server when they need to.

d32863bbb4 podman image tree: restore previous behavior
The initial version of libimage changed the order of layers which has
now been restored to remain backwards compatible.

Further changes:

 * Fix a bug in the journald logging which requires to strip trailing
   new lines from the message. The system tests did not pass due to
   empty new lines. Triggered by changing the default logger to
   journald in containers/common.

 * Fix another bug in the journald logging which embedded the container
   ID inside the message rather than the specifid field. That surfaced
   in a preceeding whitespace of each log line which broke the system
   tests.

 * Alter the system tests to make sure that the k8s-file and the
   journald logging drivers are executed.

 * A number of e2e tests have been changed to force the k8s-file driver
   to make them pass when running inside a root container.

 * Increase the timeout in a kill test which seems to take longer now.
   Reasons are unknown. Tests passed earlier and no signal-related
   changes happend. It may be CI VM flake since some system tests but
   other flaked.

8489dc4345 move go module to v2
With the advent of Podman 2.0.0 we crossed the magical barrier of go
modules. While we were able to continue importing all packages inside
of the project, the project could not be vendored anymore from the
outside.

Move the go module to new major version and change all imports to
`github.com/containers/libpod/v2`. The renaming of the imports
was done via `gomove` [1].

Add cmd flag to show container name in log
2020-02-28 18:55:58 +01:00
e3b31a3ab8 implement reverse reader for log reads
in cases where the log file exceeds the available memory of a system, we had a bug that triggered an oom because the entire logfile was being read when the tail parameter was given. this reads in chunks and is more or less memory safe.
